Swimming Lessons

Samantha started swimming lessons at the YMCA this morning.  She was the youngest of the group, but so active!  She had a great time.  The class started with trying to help the babies feel comfortable reaching on their tummies, to simulate the swimming motion.  Samantha and I would throw a toy and she'd have to reach forward after it.
Practicing reaching forward

Then we worked on getting her comfortable floating on her back.  She resisted at first, but then loosened up a bit as she started to get more comfortable with the position.

Lastly, the goal was to try to get her to not be afraid of the water so I sat her up on the side of the pool and had her fall forward into my arms in the water.
Jumping to mom!

She is doing so well!!  The other bonus is that Ed is allowed to come watch the swim lessons so it's a fun family activity.  We're so proud of our little swimmer!
Just swimming!

Loving swim time!
